US-China trade war begins to thaw as new tariffs halted

The world’s two biggest economies have signalled they may be ready to end their ongoing trade war.

During a meeting at the G20 Summit, the United States and China reached a 90-day ceasefire on economic tariffs starting from January to allow for fresh negotiations.

In the new year, U.S. tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods were set to rise from 10 to 25%.

For now, that won’t happen, but President Trump has warned they will be imposed if the fresh talks fail.

This latest agreement was reached before the US and Chinese leaders departed the G20 summit in Buenos Aires.
